VIP Drumming

Welcome to VIP Drumming — a free, accessible resource for Blind, Visually Impaired and Neurodiverse people of any age who want to learn drumming.

This project is inspired by the work of the Baluji Music Foundation, a registered charity dedicated to supporting blind musicians. Additional background and related work can be found at littledrum.co.uk.

Why This Resource Exists

Decades of practical drumming experience have shown how rhythm can be a powerful source of confidence, joy, focus and emotional wellbeing. Drumming supports brain health, timing, memory, coordination and social connection — even when working with very simple patterns.

For many visually impaired and neurodiverse learners, a clear phonetic approach (such as Gun Dun Go Do Pa Ta) removes the confusion of “right” and “left” instructions, making drumming more intuitive and immediately rewarding.
